  1. Bring medicine to Indonesia

    How is the rule of bringing medications for self-consumption to Indonesia?
    Someone traveling to Indonesia and he/her brings medications must:

    • bring a letter from the doctor which explains the drug’s substance, prescription & dosage
    • have the same name written on the prescription and on the boarding pass
    • be used for personal purposes
    • not exceed fairness limit
    • be packed in the original place/wrap
    The document does not need legalization from the Embassy.
    Note :
    The Indonesian Customs has the authority to determine whether the said medications can be used in Indonesia.

  3. Procedure to get Duty Free Facility for Goods Grants and Donation

    The Government of Indonesia shall grant duty-free on any donation or gift given by foreign donors to individuals of social organization in areas of religious, cultural, relief, education, health and other social-related activities. Any duty free on donation or gift must be approved by the Directorate General of Customs.
    The Procedure for duty-free facility are:

    1. Formal request letter to the Embassy to issue a recommendation letter for duty free facility, which includes the objective of the donation, the function of donated goods, list of items including specifications, quantity and weight (kg).
    2. Gift certificate from the donor stating that the items are truly donation/gift, not for commercial purpose and not originated from Indonesian resources.
    3. Recommendation from the Directorate General of Public Medication for medical supplies and from Drug and Food Control Bureau for medicines (BPOM RI).
    4. Recommendation from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade for second hand items.Link:

    5. The receiving party in Indonesia must present all documents to the Directorate General of Customs in order to receive the duty-free on the donations/gift.
